Road Trip from Dallas to Orlando - I'd love some idea's to stop one night somewhere half way, or even 2 stops.?

We are planning a vacation to Disney World and will be driving from the DFW area to Orlando over Christmas. I'd love to stop somewhere fun for the kids. Any help will be so appreciated.|||Don't know the age of the kids or their gender, but if you have young boys, they might find a military attraction very interesting. It's just east of Mobile, Alabama. That's about 10 hours from Dallas. I'd stop for the night somewhere just west of Mobile and get a fresh start to the attraction the next morning.

On Interstate 10 in Mobile, you'll drive through the tunnel, then grab the first exit after the tunnel, Battleship Parkway, which leads to the attraction. You'll see the U.S.S. Alabama, a World War II BATTLESHIP (huge guns), to your right in the distance. There's also a World War II SUBMARINE (very cool), an Army TANK and a couple of FIGHTER PLANES. It's all open to the public. You can easily kill a few hours if you want.|||Depending on your route, you could stop into St. Francisville, Louisiana. It's a quaint town with more than a few historic plantations to visit. While you're there you could stop by the Clark Creek Natural Area. The Area has a 3 mile hiking trail and over 50 waterfalls. It would be a great way for the kids to stretch out their legs (it would also tire them out - providing they're mobile) and give them a chance to appreciate nature's beauty before heading into the wide world of Disney!

Good luck!|||Oh boy, this is an interesting one, I was thinking the beach in Panama City, FL or possibly a nice motel in Atlanta like the Sheraton, where they have a great pool there, there are nice eating places there as well. It's about 12 hrs from Dallas to Atlanta and 8 plus from Atlanta to Orlando. Orlando, you got Magic Kingdom which is spectacular, Epcot Center, MGM Studios which is great. That's my suggestion.|||http://www.mapquest.com/maps?1c=Sutter+C鈥?/a>

For miles, map, and drive time hours.

Pensacola Beach / Gulf Shores / Ft Walton Beach/ Destin

They have the white sugar sand beaches. Beautiful !

Unless 2 people are driving. I suggest 2 nights, as that drive down Mississippi can be very very long.. There's not much to see between Dallas and Pensacola area. So, just bunk down for a night somewhere at random, then hit the road again. Around Jackson MS would be a good spot ...then to the gulf shores, then on to Orlando ( Disneyworld is in Kissimmee FL , if thats where youre headed)

PS Atlanta is not on the way .
